Computer Power Controller Restoration
Due for restoration is a Computer Power Controller manufactured by Tripp Lite circa 1980s. I picked up this device through Facebook Martketplace along with a bunch of old Commodore computers, monitors, and floppy disk drives. Back in the day, these devices provided a convenient way to power these computer systems and managing their cables.
After a good external cleaning and blemish removal, it is time for internal restoration. The switches contain neon bulbs that are in various states of operation i.e. failed, dim, and/or flickering. After taking one of the switches apart, I decided it is not worth it to replace the neon bulbs and/or series resistors, and instead replace the switches. The trick is finding switches with equivalent ratings, dimensions, and aesthetics.
