Analog Audio Mixing Console
8-Channel Analog Audio Mixing Console
This is a Biamp 83 Series 8-channel analog audio mixing console undergoing restoration.
It came into my possession with the power cable damaged at the grommet through the chassis, and a crappy sticky electrical tape repair. The ground prong was missing as well. So the first order of business was replacing the power cable.
With the power cable replaced, it turned out that the contacts in the power switch were faulty. Fortunately, the switch had redundant unused contacts. So the second order of business was reversing the switch. Now it powers up, and the power LED lights up.
The top panel has indications that the device was modified after it was purchased. The controls under the logo on the top panel are not on a stock device.
Power Cable
A power cable's IEC plug was cut off for the cable to serve its purpose of supplying power to the device.
Power Cable Ingress
The power cable ingress through the chassis is a compression grommet. It holds the cable very tightly. The cable's black and white wires are soldered to the fuse, and the switch, respectively. The cable's green wire is screwed to the chassis. A future modification could be to replace all this with an IEC socket, and integrated fuse, so a damaged cable or blown fuse can be easily replaced.
